2013 Injector Dynamics UK Outlaw FWD Shootout

Day 1 Saturday

All the talk was over, all the internet hype put to bed, over the next 2 days we would see who would take the Outlaw crown for the fastest FWD in the UK 2013

13 cars were entered this years event, however as with all cars on the limit of performance there were some notable absences.

Lee Walker's 450+ bhp Honda Civic had engine troubles and didnt get it fixed in time.
Wendell Brand's 800+ bhp Honda Civic was waiting on gearbox parts that didnt turn up in time.
Glen Robson's 800+ bhp Honda Civic was waiting for his block arrive, it did but late and didnt have time to build it.
Pete Cole's 500+ bhp Renault 5 had an engine failure whilst mapping just days before the event.

Which meant a 9 car field was left to fight it out for the title. Of those Richard Batty didn't have an engine 2 days before the event, a complete engine rebuild, refit and map in 2 days was an awesome achievement.
Andy Nichols was doing his usual last minute dot com and mapping late into the night Friday, and early Saturday morning which meant he only just made 3rd Qualifying on the Satruday.

Qualifying Round 1

Davinder and Amy were the first pair out Amy setting a new PB of 11.72@125 followed by Richard Batty and Guy Chamberlain on paper the fastest 2 at the event. Guy missed a gear but Richard ran through with a 9.68@153mph Next up saw Yasir line up against Calvin, again both cars capable of 9's passes but not this time, Calvin ran a respectable 10.6@152 but Yasir had a blowout, his slick was cut which meant running on raidals for the final 2 rounds today. Finally Kiel and Chris, kiel had problems on the pass but Chris in his newly built civic did a 12.09@109.

So the ladder was set, 8 cars would now battle it out head to head.

Elimination Round 1

First pairing saw 1st vs 8th, Richard Batty vs underdog, Chris Sutton, Chris got the better start but had no chance, Richard ran a 9.57@159 against Chris 11.61@115.

The next pairing saw the current UK Record holder Guy Chamberlain against Yasir Dar. Guy got a great start, he was 2 car lengths up by the 330' but had a gear change issue and Yasir pulled him back to take the win with a 9.903@153mph a new PB against guys 11.291@146mph

Next up Calvin Skerritt against Amy Bradley, a big ask for Amy, Amy did what she had to and was a car length up but the power of Calvin pulled her back with a 10.272@147, Amy running a new PB of 11.393 @ 127mph

The final pairing Kiel Priestman vs last years winner Andy Nichols, this went with form Andy having a problem out of the box and Kiel storming home with a 10.583@100mph

Semi Final

The semi final saw 4 cars all at the top of their game, all 9's cars 3 of which had run new 9's PB's this weekend.

The first pairing of Richard Batty and Yasir Dar, a 9.4 car vs 9.9 car this would be a close one. Richard missed a gear and Yasir goes on to win with a 9.703 @ 155mph

Calvin Skerritt vs Kiel Priestman, Kiel missed a gear and Calvin advances on to the final with a 10.527@148

Final

And so we have it our final pairing of Yasir vs Calvin, no one would have predicted this at the start of the day both running 9.7's passes today but who would win the final?

Yasir gets the jump on the lights, by the 1/8th Calvin has pulled him back and its neck and neck and Calvins Superior power goes on to give him the win with a 10.1@153.

A cracking weekend, great weather, great close racing, great track and a raft of new Personal Bests?

Thanks to Shakespeare county raceway for allowing us to run the event there and of course all our sponsors.

So for all those out there thinking they arenít quick enough to enter competitions like this, think again, if you can run in the 12ís you have as much of a chance as anyone else.
