2011 Event

With a 15 car field, all cars made it through qualifying with the notable exception of Yasir Dar, whose gearbox failure in his first run proved fatal. However he still managed to pick up the prize for the Fastest 1/8th mph with 115mph. With a speed like that it would have been on course for a 9ís run. Adam Buckley also had a gearbox failure, breaking 2nd gear after spending all night replacing his gearbox, finally getting the spare in at 1:30am.

The 1st Elimination round saw some tight battles, none more so that Karl Hart and Dougie Gemmell, with Karl just edging it by 2/100th of a second. Neil Wrenn in his Honda CRX ran a new PB of 11.747 @ 121mph to knock out Lee Walker. Adam Buckley had 2 seconds to spare over Paul Bargateís Nitrous Only powered VW Scirocco. Rob Carnson with his newly built ďBack Yard RacingĒ Honda knocked out Mark Galvin in his Renault 5 GT Turbo, Whilst Kiel Priestman, winner of 2011 Ten Of The Best(TOTB) FWD Drag lost out by 2/10ths to the eventual finalist Allan Duthie in his Corsa.

The Quarter finals saw the legend in FWD Drag racing Andy Nichols, multiple times FWD champion of TOTB returning to his old form, knocking out Neil Wrenn. Karl Hart had issues against Neil Knight which gave Neil an easy victory. Rob Carnson fell asleep on the startline, which gave Allan Duthie a 2 car lengths lead that Rob just couldnít pull back despite running a faster time than Allan. The shootout of the round was Adam Buckley against Alvis Moronta in his Normally Aspirated (NA) Honda. Alvis had been quick out of the blocks all day in his NA Honda and pulled out a massive lead over Adam, but the superior power and top end speed of the TDi backed Honda won out by 1/100ths of a second.

The Semiís saw Andy Nichols against Adam Buckley in a tight knit race, Adam taking the victory with a 10.513 @144.3mph against Andyís 10.617 @ 142mph. Neil Knight had gearbox issues against Allan Duthie, and Allan romped home over 2 seconds in the lead.

And so to the final: Adam Buckley against Allan Duthie. Adam was capable of running a high 9 and Allan had been running 11ís all day.

The Final didnít disappoint, both got off the line together and were still together at the 1/8th, however Adamís superior power won through to see him take the title for 2011.

.

A special mention has to go to Guy Chamberlain, who in testing on the Saturday set a new UK FWD Record of 9.7692 @ 151.64mph, however later that day had problems which meant he couldnít compete in the Shootout. Click here for the current UK's fastest FWD times
